Another Funmap made by soniggs for WC3 Client. Farmers is a composition between real-time strategic and role-play. While you start only having some wheat and 2 rats - you may use as cattle, you will be a strong and influential warrior, mage, toolfreak, leader or still a farmer with a big lump of gold in the end.
Nearly everything you do in Farmers has consequences, and until the game is over, you will never know who might be the winner and who will be the losers. E.g: In the beginning you might kill those wolves and spiders camping near your farm. But be careful: Killining too much units of a special populace, may make them send their strongest warriors to destroy your farm and/or kill your farmer. And this is only one of many other things, showing how your playstyle affects the game.
There is also the opportunity to chose between various abilities and itmes your farmer may purchase or learn. Basically you can differentiate between 3 kinds of abilities: [list] [*]Farming abilities: First and foremost used to achieve more output from given ressources or defending your farm. But there are some skills that can be useful in fights too.[/*:m] [*]Magic abilities: Like taking control of some neutrals or set something on fire, freeze targets, bypass long distances in a short time and creating potions. There are many more. Find out yourself.[/*:m] [*]Combat abilities: Those ones may increase your damage, attackspeed and movespeed, disable or hold an enemy or create weapons and armor for example.[/*:m][/list:u]
Additionally, you will find many, many items. Items you can consume, receiving various buffs and powerups or items that are needed to create other items, items you need to do special things, like fishing for example or items you just want to sell for some gold.
And with most of this items, you will be able to create some tools supporting your work. You may for example buy a poison trap recipe in town and having twine, a trendril lumber and spider poison with you, you will be able to place a powerful sentinel to protect your cattle or any neutrals or just to annoy one of your takers.
Last but not least, there is a large, detailed and very extensive created map, with various places being worth to see, many different units with many different unique abilities and uncountable possibilities to prove yourself as a farmer.
Aren't convinced yet? Well, let me tell you more about Farmers: The game is desinged for up to 8 players. You can choose between playing with no allies, that means every one plays for his own victory, you can set allies to 4, means everyone has a fellow player or you can set the ally-size to 4, means in fact 4 versus 4. Every player will start with a farmer, two rats and his farm of course. Your farm has 4 buildings, each having some useful abilities, or the option to hire a worker for example. Every building has an inventory, so you may store some of those many items, existing in Farmers here. All farms together describe a circle around the town in the middle of the map. Going to town you will find many shops, where you can purchase items, abilities, recipes, ressources, or even units, like workers, other kinds of cattle and mercenaries. All these things will cost a lot of gold, but the items and ressources received from farming and hunting are partly very valueable, so you will be able to buy some stuff soon. To bring your farmer to a higher level, there is no fighting needed. You will recieve expierience from breeding cattle or planting wheat - even fishing will give expierience. Be sure, that improving your farming skill is worth it. Doing so, is a very chilled way to master the game. You will have a lot of easy earned money and if you don't miss the action, all could be fine. On the other hand, you maybe don't like stupid farming. Breeding cattle, planting wheat... wtf!!! You want to see some blood? Well, why not hiring a hunter and purchasing a sword? Isn't that the stuff you like? There are dozen of neutrals that can be fought and if this seems too easy, try to sabotage another player. Kill his cattle or ambush his farmer in the wood. Don't think he will enjoy, but maybe you will. However, being a criminal/murderer has consequences. Some species have very strong warriors, they will send to revenge their fallen fellows. That you are a match for them, will be the exception. Harming other players or neutral passives will also lower your charma. Having low charma, you might be the victim of some disasters soon. Afraid now? Nah! Don't be! There are ways to to sort things out. You could give your bloody blade for example, as a gift to the species that took you to task. Don't doing so, may have even worse consequences. You decide! And just taking a bit of everything will make everybody turning a blind eye. Just don't overact. Maybe you ask yourself now if this game ever ends and if so, who the winners and who the losers might be. Yeah, it really ends and the winners are those guys who managed best. Gather 250k expierience - you will see the actual value of that in the multiboard top right - you will be the winner and the game will end. This sounds unspectacular? Well, playing farmers many times, you will see that it can be a hard fight to reach this number. Other players will always see your expierience gathered too, and they will do everything to keep your gain as low as possible when feeling a harassment for their victory. Enemies will suddently be best friends and now move shoulder to shoulder. Strange things will happen and suddently the score leader is send to bottom if he doesn't pay attention.
Sounds good now? So hurry up! Get the latest version of Farmers and start playing. Continuative information are given in this forum here. Just notice me, if there's still something you miss. Well then, good luck, have fun.
